Photographic Negatives

The Poser material room allows you to easily create negatives from any image file using a single colour maths node.

Fig 1: Photographic Negatives

  1. Create a Colour_Maths node.
  2. Set the maths function to Subtract.
  3. Set both colours to White. Ctrl-click on the colour box to skip the Poser colour picker and go directly to the operating system's much better colour picker.
  4. Plug the Image Map into the Value 2 input of the Colour_Maths node.
In effect you are taking a white sheet and subtracting the original picture from it. If you want a black and white negative, use a normal maths node instead of the colour maths, setting value_1 and value_2 to one.

Of course, the same node network can be used if you actually have the negative and want to get the normal picture!
