Grouping Tool: Spawn Props

Grouping Tool: Spawn Props

While Create Prop takes the current group and turns it into a prop, Spawn Props creates a new prop from every group in the current object. The original purpose of this tool was to help with the creation of new figures. Having designed a new figure as a single object, one would import it into Poser, then use the grouping tool to create one group for each body part. Having done that, you use Spawn Prop to create all of the individual body parts required to make your final figure. In later versions of Poser, you no longer need to perform this step when making figures, but the Spawn Props tool can still be very useful

Some props come with groups already created. Here I will take advantage of this to split a Poserworld scene prop into its original parts. The scene I have chosen is the Venetian Villa (see Figure 1).

Fig 1: Venetian Villa

  1. First, place your prop in the scene
  2. Go to the grouping tool
  3. Click on Spawn Props
  4. Thats it!

The new props will be named after the group they are based on. The original prop will also remain in the scene.

Fig 2: Some parts of the Villa

Figure 2 shows some of the props that this creates. Each of these can be saved back to your prop library to be used whenever you need them. You don't have to use pre-existing groups - any group will do, so you can add extra groups to props (or create them from scratch).
